Biography

Israeli-Belgian-American mezzo-soprano Mala Weissberg continues to establish herself as a versatile artist across opera, concert, and early music repertoire. In summer 2026, she joins the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme, the prestigious Internationale Meistersinger Akademie (IMA), and sings the role of Stéphano in Gounod's Roméo et Juliette with Park City Opera in Utah.

Recent engagements include her debut at the Aldeburgh Festival performing Brahms' Zwei Gesänge with James Baillieu and Brett Dean as well as her debut with Oper Köln in Gisle Kverndokk's Max und Moritz. A passionate advocate for early music, she has appeared as Lisea in Vivaldi's Arsilda, regina di Ponto with Opera Neo, as a guest soloist at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, performed with Ensemble I Gemelli finals of the Concours International de Chant Baroque de Froville, Fernando in Vivaldi's rarely performed Motezuma and appearances as a guest soloist with Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra in Toronto.

Her operatic roles include Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Miles (The Turn of the Screw), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Angelina (La Cenerentola), Le Prince Charmant (Cendrillon), Ino (Semele), and the title role in Cendrillon.
